Our 20 ha family estate dates from 1750. It is in Theizé in Southern Beaujolais in the very heart of Pierres Dorées (golden stone) Country, where the quite steep hilly terrain overlooks the Saône Valley. We work our vines in respect for nature, keeping the yields moderate and using traditional vinification methods to bring you fleshy, fruity and balanced wines.
Appellation: Beaujolais
Set in the heart of Theizé, a picturesque village in the Pierres Dorées (golden stone) region, our family estate is run by two brothers, Hubert and Vincent LAVERRIERE, who make wines in the image of the region: harmonious and elegant.
Maison Coquard is a house with personality in Theizé that was built out of the Pierres Dorées (golden stone) that gives its name to the nearby typical villages, which was built in 1881. It is not far from Villefranche-sue-Saône and Lyon. The buildings include an old vatroom and cellar. Christophe Coquard, the son of a long line of vinegrower-winemakers and young artisan broker, will welcome you for a tasting of the entire Beaujolais range.
The chai and the estate are in Blacé, in a 12th century priory. The latter was home to Grandmontine monks, who tended the vines surrounding the château up to 1769. Today, the estate spreads over 9 ha of vines, which give directly onto the chai. Our estate also includes vineyards in Villié-Morgon (1ha) and Saint Lager (3ha). The estate is organic certified for the vines in Saint Lager (AOC Brouilly). We use eco-friendly techniques for the rest of the estate, including shallow-ploughing between the vines.
